When my users get the error, 'An error has occurred with a duplicate line on save – please try again’ they do not understand what they did and to them they have no actual duplicate. Working with Mikhel and Brandon we found the error is generated if the user swaps any info from the column fields instead of updating the row fields in the grid time card table. The database then thinks there are duplicate entries but nothing is highlighted, so if the user cannot find the issue they close out and lose any transactions and then when they come back in they need to find where they left off. This has led to hours of extra work for the field guys.
One suggestion I have in order for the transactions to highlight would be to create a hidden field in the table that is a zero, when a user tries to update a record that will generate the duplicate the field can update to a 1 and then anything with a 1 can be highlighted pink. This would help the user tremendously. I just got down writing up a document explaining this error, giving a few examples on also giving tips on how to avoid the issue that I sent out to my employees who use Keystyle but in addition the highlighting would really help.

This is very disruptive in multiple ways-the employee searches for the duplicate but can't find it, they are calling payroll to find out the problem and payroll can't necessarily pinpoint the problem, and 99% of the employees don't have access to timecard entry anyways so they would not be able to self identify the problem. We have folks who could have 50 or 60 entries and when the only thing they can figure out to do is refresh, they lose a lot of data and the whole process is very time consuming. this happens at least one time a week
This is especially helpful for the people that are new to the system. Not only the extra work but the attitude and frustration.
