Enable Crew Editing (PRCW) with Approval process

We experience a great number of crew changes that are currently updated via an e-mail or telephone request from a Foreman to one of two payroll clerks.  It would be great to have a form the Foremen can fill out and submit, much like a Personal Info update.  After submitting, the payroll clerks (or other appropriate individuals) would be notified and could then approve the changes to the PR Crews that would then update the PRCW table in Vista.

    Hey All,

I just wanted to let you know that we released crew management in our June release! You can configure whether or not employees can select crews on the Grid Timecard settings page and giving them access to create their crews is in Portal Settings > Grid Timecard > User Group with Access to Manage Crews .

Here's an article for more info: http://www.keystyledata.com/kb/#KB/EmployeeSelfService/Timecards/CrewConfiguration.htm

    Thanks!

    Mark,

Id be okay with them editing their crews without approval as long as there was some form of validation. For instance, in PR Crews in Vista a person can be a member of more than a single crew. We run something weekly to be sure that this is not the case, but the system certainly allows it. Id prefer that the Foremen could update their crews without approval, but there would need to be some sort of validation system so that the crew member did not show up on multiple crews. This probably leads to a deeper issue, because their may need to be communication between foremen if a person is moving from one crew to another.

    Thanks,

    -Drew

I'd prefer approval and I know our payroll staff would. Our foremen can do some crazy things... Thanks Mark!

    Hey Drew and Jon,

Would you prefer that your employees can edit their own crews without approval or only with approval?

    Thanks!

Sorry -- it's been a year since we put this in, so I'm guessing as well. At the time of this post, we weren't even considering field time, so we were wanting a way for our foremen to send in crew updates (much like how an employee can utilize the "Update Info" section). Since then we've implemented the much simpler "Timecard" section, but we're not close to implementing "Grid Timecard". This could help us down the line if we implement Grid Timecards.

Mark, I certainly like the idea of utilizing crews in some form or fashionespecially in the app on the phone. Im going to rope Jon Glenn into this conversation because he works with the time and payroll much more than me. Jon, please chime in.

    Thanks,

    Drew

    Hi Drew,

We are currently looking at bringing PR Crews to some of our time entry pages and allow users to either modify crews they have access to and/or add their crews to the timecards. Would this help solve the enhancement you are looking for?

    Thanks!

    Hey Mark,

The foremen are not doing anything with crews in the portal today...not sure there is anywhere to do something with crews...not that I've seen anyways. If they could modify the crews without approval, that would work as well. We use the crews for a lot of reporting functionality, and as you probably already know, these could be used for some great SQL lookups, assuming they are correct in Vista.

    Thanks,

    -Drew

    Hi Drew,

What if foreman could modify their crew through the portal without approval? How are your foremen using crews in the portal today?

    Thanks!
