Performance Reviews completed by managers and employees

Currently within the Performance Review module when you initialize a performance review it is sent to the employee directly for their self review to be completed, however the manager is not able to provide their feedback or review of the employee until the employee completes the self-evaluation.  I know that we can turn off the Self-Evaluation feature and have the review sent directly to the manager, but we are looking to find a perfect medium with both of those options.  With our process, we provide the employee with the opportunity to contribute to their self-evaluation, but we would like the manager to be able to have a review form so that they can be completing the review on the employee at the same time, but that the employee would not see until they meet face to face to discuss it.  So, wondering if there would be the option that when you initialize the performance review for the employee that the employee receives the form to complete their questions and the manager would also receive for form to complete on that employee.  Once these are both complete, our managers meet with the employee and review the information, discuss plans, goals, needs, etc.  Both would then sign the managers review.  Many times the manager will review the information that the employee provided on their self evaluation, but they will have their own feedback.  From there, both the self evaluation and the managers evaluation would become part of the employees record.  Either as two seperate documents or morphing them into one document.  Either way would be perfectly ok.

This not only stopped working (reported to Viewpoint in a Case) but one manager can Finalize a Review before other assigned Managers which then locks out the other Managers from completing their reviews. The Finalize Button should not be available until all assigned Managers and the employee they are reviewing have completed the Review process. Otherwise, someone has to Purge the review that did not include everyone and then Initialize again for some to redo the same Review. Companies that have a large number of reviews (we have over a 1,000) can't communicate to Managers on when to Finalize or not Finalize.

Did this stop working?  We were testing the performance reviews and it DID allow the manager and the employee to complete the reviews at the same time.  As of today it will only email the manager AFTER the employee completes the review.  We are on 1.19.12.791

Michael, What was updated in July? We don't see that setting and now the Managers can Finalize the Reviews before everyone is finished.

    Hi Tammy,

I'm super excited to say this has been released in the July update. Wahoo!

Our process is basically the same and we would love this as well.  The only additional feature would be for the employee's submitted eval to be sent to HR Admin for pre-screening before sending it on to the employee's manager.

This item is being reviewed.  I'm hoping to get some more community support and votes on it so we can bring it to light.  For now, the dev team will review it.

Just wondering if there is any update or best practices that might be available on this suggestion?

Correct, right now from what I can tell when initialize a review for an employee, they are informed that they can start their performance review.  However, from what I can gather, the manager only sees that the review is waiting to be conducted by the employee.  The manager is not able to contribute to a review unless I override the self-evaluation or the employee completes their evaluation.  I am new to this so maybe I am missing something.  You are correct that we would NOT want the employee to see the managers review until they finalize the review and share it in person with the employee.  The manager could see the employees self evaluation however, as long as they have submitted it.  Does that make sense?

    Hi Nicole,

It sounds like the request is to initialize and allow the managers and the employee to receive an email about the review at the same time.  I would assume that the employee should not see the managers notes until the manager finalizes their review.  Can you confirm if this is right?
