If a user adds a receipt on the date of a transaction, the credit card transaction posting date doesn't always match up. We'd like to add a +/-3 or 4 days of wiggle room so that a match can still be found if the date isn't exact. Without this, the credit card/expense module is not usable.

That could be an option. I agree. Some way to make matching more robust would be useful.
For this suggestion and for a few other like it, it appears we should make the match a little more robust. How would you feel about a button that lets you choose what expense you match it to? If the date, amount, and card are the same, we can keep the green match button.
