Start Stop Sequence in time worked AM/PM issues

Right now in the Time Worked (Start Stop Sequence) if I start the day with 7am - and enter an 8 in the stop field - the 8 defaults to 8pm. (it will default to PM until I get to 9AM)  If i enter a 4pm in the start field, and then enter a 10 -  the 10 automatically defaults to 10am.

Is there anyway to change the logic, so that if the Start time is in AM - then any number after is AM until 12? Also if the start time is anytime PM - then any number after the start time is also PM until 12?  Right now it's not making sense.
