Currently, the “Auto Generate HRRef” function assigns the next ID by incrementing the highest HRRef value within the HRCo. We already have employee numbers in the 9XXXX range, and we want to avoid the system automatically generating IDs in the 6-digit range.
It would be helpful to have a portal setting such as “Minimum Auto-Generated HRRef” that allows us to specify a starting value (for example, 90000). When onboarding a new employee, the system would then begin checking at that value and assign the first available HRRef above it.
The logic in [dbo].[ONInitializeEmployee] appears to already support this approach with a minor adjustment. The assignment currently occurs at line ~220:
SELECT @NextHRRef = ISNULL(MAX(HRRef), 0) + 1
If administrators modify this directly, it gets overwritten during system updates — so having this exposed as a configurable setting would provide a long-term, supportable solution.
Thanks for considering this enhancement.
