Different organizations or individuals may have unique requirements for emergency contact information. For example, there is no area to input email addresses so if someone prefers to be contacted through email, there is no way to capture this. Allowing UD fields enables us to tailor the page to capture specific details that are relevant to our organization.

Work Around: Lock Employees from editing emergency contacts on the portal and force them to submit a document for this update type. You can add a UD Field on the ERP side to include the email or use the notes field. You could create a second UD field that indicates preferred method of contact or once again use the notes field. Using the notes field would not be a work around since this is built in and displays on the portal (you would not need to lock editing contacts in this case). I am assuming your HR department is making the emergency call and has access to both ERP and online EE portal. You can access information on your phone either way incase you are not near your laptop.
