After a reviewer/ manager has completed someone's review they then sign and submit. If the individual being reviewed could then receive a notice that allows them to comment regarding their review and then sign that would be excellent. If those two documents could then be linked and downloaded that would be great.

100% agree...we are just starting to implement this module and that is one definite drawback. In order to demonstrate that an employee was made aware of their performance review, they need to comment on and sign it, regardless of whether or not they did a self-review.
Mark,
We have employees complete an employee version, and then the manager fill out a managers version. Not necessarily the same questions on both the employee and manager review. The employee's version can be used by the manager to complete the managers review, but I wouldn't consider the employee review 'the review'. It is just additional information for the manager to use (along with any notes or feedback they have received throughout the year) to write their review.
Thanks!
I've just read this comment flow and agree with how frustrating it is to continue having all ideas for the performance review section labeled "future consideration." I had a 1-hour phone call a year ago with one of your engineers, and I'm starting to realize that using my company's time to state or explain the software improvements is a waste of time since everything is continuously labeled "future consideration." When is the future? Do you know also have comments labeled the same thing from 3 years ago?
Hi Mark,
It would also be very useful for us to be able to also have peer reviews. Each employee does a self review, manager review and up to three peer reviews. Each one needs to be confidential and go through an approval process. Signatures would great.
I envision this working similar to the onboarding process where we could create various templates depending on the employee's responsibility.
Once submitted, the review would be processed in Vista HR. HR should also be able to be viewed at any stage of the process.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Hi Colleen,
Yes, that does. For your workflow, does the employee fill out their version of the performance review or are you only having the managers complete the reviews?
Thanks!
Mark,
Some of our reviews happen remotely. Is it possible for the Manager to "release the review to the employee" is the system? Then the system would send the review to the employee and the employee could log in as themselves to acknowledge and add a comment.
When you state "this would require they meet in person so that manager can let the employee sign", is the employee acknowledging the review through the managers log in? If so, I don't think that would work as verification that the employee is the one actually acknowledging the review. From a verification standpoint the employees log in needs to be associated with their comments and acknowledgement.
Hope this helps!
Hi Team,
If we allow for different templates for Managers and Employees, the Manager template could have a section for the Employee reviewing it could comment and sign that they acknowledge the review. Setting up the templates in this way would require they meet in person so the manager can let the employee sign. Do most of these meetings happen remote or in person?
Thanks for all the great feedback!
Currently we use a single form but label one portion towards the bottom "EMPLOYEE ONLY" and another portion "SUPERVISOR ONLY" to accomplish our goal. We still want separate forms between Employee and Supervisor but as others have said some sort of acknowledgment or sign off by the employee when they sit down and go over the review(s). We also want the option of the employee not seeing the supervisor review until they schedule their meeting(s).
In my opinion the Manager's review is THE Review. The Employee Review is the a self evaluation that the manager can use to write the review.
Therefore, the performance review needs to have an electronic acknowledgment that the manager completed, HR reviewed it (ensure managers do not write information that shouldn't be included in the review, e.g. attendance because an employee is on FMLA), and the employee was given the review with the manager. The acknowledgment is that the review was completed and given to the employee, NOT that the employee agrees with all information in the review. There should also be a comment box for the employee to leave their comments after the review has been given.
In the step of the approval process HR needs to be able to send back the review to the manager make correction.
I think that is a long answer to say yes the employee acknowledgement must be tracked so that HR knows that it has been discussed with the employee.
Hi Team,
It sounds like the number one need is to allow the Manager's Performance Review to have different fields than the employee performance review. Is this only required in order to track the employee's signature on the manager's review to show that they have reviewed together?
Thanks!
Yes, the employee and manager should be able to both sign the final document that is initialized to the system and it should be time stamped as well. Managers should also be able to make edits to the document up until the point that the review is finalized.
Hey Team,
We have some other development items that are a higher on the list than this one, but we do plan to make some Performance Review improvements later this year.
Thanks for the feedback and votes!
Even though I'm logged in...my comment I just posted says "guest". This is Jamie Berzon with S. M. Wilson. :)
Just wondering....how "future" is "future consideration"? It's time for our annual reviews and we were hoping this would be out. We can't use this module until we have an employee acknowledgement that is tracked and reportable.
Agree 100% with this suggestion and the other comments. Additionally, allowing the manager to receive a notification once the employee has completed the final sign off would be great too.
This would be immensely helpful as our performance appraisal process is a two way, constructive conversation process
Definitely! One document with comments and signatures from both the employee and manager is critical.
Agreed. We typically have the employee do their self-review, the manager do their review and they meet, discuss, make changes and finally submit the manger's view. We'd like a place for the employee to sign off that they agree as well. This is critical for us to move forward.
