Hello,
“Unlikely to implement”? This response overlooks the clear need for a customer-centered approach, especially given the volume of feedback to the contrary.
It seems there’s a misunderstanding of the volume we face, the resources we are forced to redirect, and the many creative workarounds we've tried to make up for this system's gap.
HR is called upon multiple times A DAY to translate. The U.S. job market welcomes a significant and sometimes overwhelming influx of asylum seekers. Given today’s labor landscape, we do urgently need these workers. Languages like Spanish, French Creole, and Ukrainian aren’t occasional requests; they are daily requirements.
We cannot continue diverting skilled production resources to handle HR-related translations that technology should resolve—nor should these employees be exposed to sensitive information while doing so.
Google Translate simply doesn’t meet the need or demand (we’ve tried).
In a nutshell, I believe it is time to listen to the needs of your users and support this essential requirement. I have placed this comment here so my HR colleagues can continue the push for a necessary change and so that the development team can better understand the error of “Unlikely to implement.”
Thank you
Agree completely with Jason that using Google translate as a band-aid for a widespread need is insulting, and doesn't address all of the needs. Some of the translating is incorrect contextually as well, ex. in the Onboarding section it uses the word 'cremallera' for Zip Code, which actually means 'zipper' like for clothes. Please revisit this need!!
This would be a very useful feature; we have to have team members help translate or assist employees who use the portal. It's underutilized because this option is not available.
This construction software has untapped potential for widespread user adoption. A significant segment of our workforce is Spanish-speaking, and to fully transition away from paper timesheets by 2023/2024, we require comprehensive translation support. While the software itself is good, the absence of a Spanish translation option is impeding user adoption. It presents a challenge for Spanish-speaking users to input their crew's working hours when they cannot comprehend the interface. Imagine attempting to complete a form in an unfamiliar language. Do better.
This needs to happen. It's silliy that it's not an option.
My HR team still bugs me regularly for the Portal to be translated into Spanish. So although this is marked unlikely to implement I am throwing a comment out again to keep this on the radar.
This is a necessity for our associates. This helps them make informed decisions without a language barrier! Please move forward with this asap.
Suggesting that Google translate be used to provide Spanish websites for a construction oriented system is insulting to those of us who have a large number of Spanish speaking associates. This is supposed to be a construction industry oriented system, but it ignores the need to communicate well with one of the largest demographics in the industry.
This is a HUGE need for our company. This option should be a given with our industry, and needs to be implemented asap.
We use a kiosk in our plants for User access. This does not allow for the use of the Chrome translation. I see this is pretty high on the list of requests. I hope you reconsider. Thanks!
Hey Mark,
I understand you are saying google chrome can translate the entire web page, but honestly a lot of the guys barely know how to turn on a computer, much less do what you are saying.
This works Mark! As long as a user can access Chrome they can change their settings to Spanish and even make it prompt to change to Spanish and also Revert back to English!
Hi Everyone,
Google translate has the ability to translate complete web pages to any language. In Google Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced > Languages and you can set the browser to display all text in Spanish. This is available today and translates pretty well.
If this won't work for your team, please let me know!
I completely agree with what Paul West and Juliana Ferrara said. The construction industry is HIGHLY comprised of native Spanish speakers, so marking this as unlikely doesn't make much sense. Could you explain what brought about this decision please?
Our industry is heavily made of Spanish speakers. When looking at their employment with a company ( earnings, benefits, other info, etc. ) most people would rather look at it in their native language. Even if they are bilingual. Marking this "unlikely to implement" is discouraging as this is one of the more obvious enhancements to the portal.
Unlikely to implement a major need in our industry????????????????????????
This is definitely crucial. We need translation!!
Is there a reason why you can't use a browser plug-in? In iOS, you can enable the Microsoft Translator and translate entire pages at once.
Agreed, in fact I was looking and may add a suggestion for the stock onboarding forms to be in Spanish. I-9, W-4, and Self Identification forms. They are government mandated forms.
We're a construction company, so a vast majority of our employees are Spanish first speakers. Do we have anything on this? It's been a suggestion over 3 months (5 months for the other similar suggestion) without any movement.
