Allow multiple users to report equipment on field tickets

On a grid timecard an employee can report equipment usage using different employees (i.e. employee one has a back hoe, employee two has a bucket truck and generator, etc.) But with field tickets in Portal, we lose some of the grid timecard's functionality when you have either a) one employee can have one piece of equipment or b) a single (real or fictitious) employee can report all equipment. And that employee will be the same regardless of who is entering the time.

The whole point of capturing data from the field is to get accurate data. Yet, the Portal is designed to disallow this and point to a single employee no matter what.

Would like the same flexibility in a field ticket as we have in a grid timecard. An employee(s) of the user's choosing can report multiple pieces of equipment usage. This would help with accurate reporting and would update the employee in the EM Equipment form in Vista.

In our grid timecard, we currently have usage hours in the units section as some equipment would have usage hours on more than one day in the timecard.

    Hey John,

Let me check in with the team about how difficult this would be to change and what it would look like. Do you currently have your Usage Units in the column or in the Row group in your Grid Timecard Layout?

    Thanks!

    That sounds right, Mark.

Line one employee filling out ticket with their labor hours

Line two employee filling out ticket with equipment #1 usage hours

Line three employee filling out ticket with equipment #2 usage hours

If we can do that in the field ticket, we are off and running.

    Hey John,

I just reviewed this behavior. If we allow saving of equipment lines with their operators without labor hours the same way we do in grid timecard, would this meet your needs?

We currently allow saving usage units without labor hours on the grid timecard without requiring the "Grid Timecard: allow zero hour lines to be saved and submitted" portal setting enabled.

    Thanks!

Several of our employees have multiple pieces of equipment assigned to them. When submitting time, they would have one line with their labor hours; the subsequent lines would be of the usage hours of their equipment.

When we report the equipment usage, we want to see who reported it so we don't want to use a single employee ID to report all equipment usage, we want it to be per employee.

I do not have the zero hours box checked. If I check the box, who will be the employee listed when reporting the equipment usage in Timecard Entry?

    Hi John,

If there are no labor hours on the employee equipment, why does the employee need to be selected those equipment lines?

Are you using the portal setting "Grid Timecard: allow zero hour lines to be saved and submitted"?

    Thank you

    Mark,

This only works if we add labor hours on the same line as usage hours. The Portal will not save a line with usage hours and no labor hours if units is in the row.

I guess this takes me back to the request to either add the employee in the equipment section or at least use the logged in user as the single user associated with the equipment reported.

    Hey John,

When using the operator portal setting, if you want different usage units from the labor hours, you will need to move the Usage Units field to the row group on your Grid Timecard Layout. Is this something you can easily change or do your grid timecards use the Usage Units in column groups?

    Thank you

    Hey Mark,

I must be missing something. I enabled the setting you referenced and see the equipment on the same line as the employee, but there are no separate usage hours for the equipment even though usage hours are in the layout.

    Hi John,

I believe we have what you are requesting for today. The Field Ticket portal setting "Show Equipment on Payroll lines for operators" will allow you to add equipment usage in the Payroll section of the field ticket instead of the Equipment (PREQ) section.

    Will this meet your needs?

    Thank you,

    Mark
