NYS law requires a break. We would like a checkbox that auto-deducts a break (say 12-12:30) on a time card without the end user needing to punch in and out for lunch. So if they work 8-4:30 and check the box they get 8 hours of time with an auto-deducted lunch.

Hey Brandon,
Our logic is just adding the lunch break hours on the first start and stop sequence if you are using the default break option. If you decide not to use the default break option, you can build your own custom trigger and apply the logic you need. Our Professional Services Team can help assist you with building this trigger so the break is only added according to your custom logic. Here's a link to submitting a PS case: https://support.viewpoint.com/s/submit-a-case?defaultCaseType=ProfessionalServices
Please let me know how I can help!
Hey Mark,
Thank you for shipping this very quickly, looks to be working well so far.
I was wondering what the level of effort would be to add this in:
When time worked total for one start and stop sequence is <5 hours do not deduct specified time. ( EX. 8AM - 12PM = 4 Hours -- Do not deduct specified time)
When time worked is >5 hours deduct specified time. ( EX. 8AM - 1:30PM = 5.5 Hours -- Deduct specified time)
This function would apply to each start and stop sequence for one day (EX. Monday, worked two 7 hour shifts, 2 hours apart, specified time should be deducted from each start and stop sequence for Monday)
Let me know if i should start another suggestion for this.
Hey Jeremy,
Thanks for posting the release notes above!
Hi Team,
I'd love to hear your feedback with this new feature once you begin using it. Feel free to send me some feedback emails at mark.cadman@viewpoint.com.
Thank you
Disregard, i see the release notes here: http://keystyledata.com/kb/#KB/Release_Notes/What_sNewin2020R5.htm?Highlight=deduct%20timecard
I see this marked as shipped but I'm not seeing the option in Keystyle. Is there a release note somewhere on how to enable it?
Yes, auto-deducting a specified time would work for us. our hourly employees are required to take a 30 minute lunch, so if they put in that they worked 8-4:30 (8.5 hours), having a checkbox that says "lunch taken" and having that box subtract 30 minutes from the time worked would solve our issue. We don't care when they took lunch, we just need to be able to show the state that they took the break.
Yes this would be very helpful and make things more efficient! Thank you.
We are needing two things, in order of preference.
The ability to create Timecard lines from the Timeclock action, also needs to consider the proposed portal setting value when calculating the value to enter in the ‘Hours’ field for the Timecard lines.
In the Time Worked grid (timeclock), we need the proposed portal setting value to be included in the reconciliation calculation. Currently, only the Start/Stop fields are included.
Thank you!
Hey Mark,
I believe that would solve this problem for most.
In my situation the timecard line generates on clock out, but the user must copy their hours above and manually enter break hours for the timecard hours to calculate properly.
A portal setting allowing the auto deduction of for example 30 minutes or 0.5 hours, to be removed from either a timecard line generated or from time worked prior to the time card line generation could achieve a positive result for my situation.
Punch in 7:00am
punch out 4:00pm
auto deduction(of specified amount)
Timecard line generated less the amount specified in portal setting.
Potentially have this apply to certain user groups would be nice
Thanks!
Brandon
Hi Everyone,
We are currently looking into the idea of having a portal setting for admins to specify the amount of time that should be auto-deducted from any auto-generated timecard lines and from the time worked subtotals. Would having this set lunch break work for your use cases?
Please let me know!
Add Berg Demolition to the list of folks who are hoping for this.
We struggled with this at implementation as well. Currently we're using a 0 factor lunch earnings code to bridge the gap between the time clock and submitted hours. Those entries are purged during batch processing. It's manageable but a nuisance especially considering the fact that we moved from an older system that had the default break.
We do this in Canada as well, alot of resource to manually deduct breaks from people. Seems like a straightforward fix to automatically deduct the lunch break. Could we see this pushed forward?
We have the same requirement in the state of California
