Our field employees routinely work under different classes. For example they may work on phase 0900. for 4 hours under class 495, but also work under phase 0900. for 4 hours under class 500. Or work on different phases with different classes.
Currently to ADD the employee again with a new class they have to do the following:
In timecard screen click on Employee cell on left side (see image)
This opens up a window where you then click "Edit Line Details" (see image)
The "Edit Shift / Class" window opens and then you click the class cell (see image)
The user then selects the new class.
Instead of clicking SAVE which changes the class you must click ADD to add the employee again with the new class
This seems to be a lot of steps and a confusing workflow.
I propose the following:
In timecard screen click in the Employee cell add a PLUS symbol next to the employee name(see image). The user would click this symbol.
This takes you right to the "Edit Shift / Class" where you can pick new class and any other settings, BUT ONLY have the ADD button and not SAVE.
This is 3 quick steps (including the search for class).
A second proposal to that would help make it more intuitive, but still more steps would be do the following:
In timecard screen click on Employee cell on left side (see image)
This opens up a windows where a new entry called "Duplicate Employee" or "Copy Employee" (See image)
The "Edit Shift / Class" windows opens and then you click the class cell.
The user then selects new class (and makes any other changes).
Then ONLY the ADD button exists vs ADD and SAVE since the employee specifically picked "Duplicate Employee" or some similar working.
Our foreman will be almost always have employees working on multiple classes. Although clone timecard may help in this if it is same employees working on same classes it will not always be the case and need to do this.
By breaking out "Edit Line Details" into two parts:
"Edit Line Details" - Leaving only SAVE option
"Duplicate Employee" or whatever wording this - Leaving only ADD option
Makes it more intuitive of what you are doing.
But again we feel having a more streamlined option right from the timecard click a + symbol is more intuitive. But at minimum breaking out the "Edit Line Details" into 2 parts... Edit and Add/Duplicate.
