FM Web has 2 ways to do Progress Entry:
The main Progress Entry
Field Tickets / Progress Entry (If enabled on Field Tickets)
Currently Progress Entry has the following Portal Settings:
Enable Notes Entry (Requires udNotes on JC Progress Entry)
Enable Last Modified By (Requires udModifiedBy on JC Progress Entry)
After we set these up in Vista they should flow right on over and then into Job Cost Detail.
The udNotes are critical to us... not so much the udModifiedBy, but still good.
We need to post notes that go directly with the Production and ultimately to Job Cost Detail. Usually it relates to the location on the job the production is on as well as other important info related to that specific production.
This this is already a part of the main Progress Entry screen so we are requesting the Progress Entry under Field Ticket simply make use of those same fields.
This will allow our foreman to use Field Tickets to initiate the Field Ticket / Progress Entry and then allow our PE's to validate and make any necessary changes and submit / approve.
Without the udNotes in Field Ticket / Progress Entry we cannot fully use Field Ticket and will have to use (main Progress Entry) which would require the foreman use a 3rd screen.

The field ticket and the progress entry screen have different user stories but should notate the same fields. If the job foreman is at the job site they will know the details to put in the notes section.
In addition a decision should be made on whether to have separate portal parameters for the Field Tickets / Progress Entry portion and just Progress Entry.
Mirror the existing Progress Entry parameters over into Field Tickets and have the following Portal Settings under Field Tickets:
Enable Notes Entry (Requires udNotes on JC Progress Entry)
Enable Last Modified By (Requires udModifiedBy on JC Progress Entry)
This way the option to have it on or off could be determined for each area (Field Ticket / Progress Entry vs just Progress Entry.
If you don't have similar portal settings under the Field Tickets then you would have it just pull from Progress Entry portal settings.
Personal opinion is to have the separate so it can be controlled.
