HR Benefit Enrollment Age Limitation For Dependents

Configure the Vista HR Benefit Codes to have a field for Dependent Age Limitations (By State if possible) so when employees select a benefit with dependents in Benefit Enrollment in the Portal it restricts choosing dependents that may not qualify based on age limits.

Do you have a separate Benefit code setup in Vista per state?

I wonder if this can be done with dynamic Benefit Assignments and Benefit Groups that look at the User enrolling and their dependents. Have you tried this to limit the Benefit Codes and Benefit Options available?

I'll check to see if there are options to add in custom error messages or validation for that form.

Mark, The rules for dependent children can vary by the State that an employee lives. In our NE States the age is 26 but in Florida it is age 30, but if a dependent child has a mental or physical disability (another check box needed) coverage can continue at any age. I think the logic would start at the Benefit Code level with a box that can be checked "Dependents Eligible" or related to any Benefits in the portal that allow Family or Dependent coverage, but that can get tricky because some of our plans allow for employee plus children, or spouse, or family which is all inclusive. One plan is either employee or employee and family. In HR Resource Dependents we already list the state they live in so there would have to be some logic of age limits by state, along with a box to mark if they qualify as Disabled. The a calculation would have to be done on their Birth Date and current age during Open Enrollment.

    Hi Paul,

What're some examples you could share? Prevent a dependent for being selected for health insurance if 26 or over?

    Thanks!

Is this going to be a consideration soon?
