Not all employees go by their legal first name, so it would be helpful to allow for a Preferred Name field that will not disrupt their legal name as it is needed for payroll, W-2s, etc.

This preferred name also need to be available as a searchable lookup in the timecard entry or field tickets in the HR Management portal.
We created a udPreferredName on HR Master. Then added that to the Update my personal info page. Maybe orignal poster was talking about doing more, like using the preferred name in the top menu bar.
