Right now, an open timecard batch needs to be opened in Vista prior to the Portal being able to automatically open thenew batch. Since the Vista batch is still required, it doesn't make much sense to leverage this feature for us. It would be nice if the portal automatically took care of the whole process. -> Create Vista batch and then open batch in the portal. Done.

We don't have any plans to auto create pay periods through the portal since this should be controlled by payroll and it would require a custom setup per customer. If this is something you would like to happen automatically, you should be able to create a stored procedure that can do this for you on a regular basis. Our Professional Services Technical services team should be able to help you with building this customization.

Got it. It doesn't require a batch, but it does require an open pay period in Vista for the portal to be opened. We have to open the pay period and enter the required information such as start date, end date and what period you want the costs to hit in, what frequency the payroll is for. That is most likely not possible then.

The portal doesn't require a Vista portal batch in order to open timecard batches for the portal. As long as you have the pay period and the portal settings configured correctly, the portal should be creating your timecard batches automatically.
