Currently the mobile app is moving very slow for us, it starts off moderately slow at the beginning of the week, and then gradually gets worse, until it is almost unusable. There are significant delays in cloning, adding and removing phases, etc. It appears that our crew size of 25 to 35 people is as expected, but the equipment usage of 50 to 100 pieces seems to be more than the app is able to accommodate. We are are a heavy highway company and this amount of weekly equipment usage is typical for us. We need additional processing power added to the app.

You are correct that this would modify the template so it doesn't sound like that would work for you guys. The app is getting better and better with each release :)
Following that KB article, it seems like that would change the grid timecard template system-wide right?
We have a Mechanic Shop and a Dump Truck department that both use a mechanics type template, and having the phases as a column would disrupt their format.
Either way, it would still create significantly more lines to enter and review. For example, entering a piece of equipment with working and idle time in the portal grid would be two lines, in the app it would only be one. Across 50-100 pieces of equipment, that adds up. Further, the portal grid does not include production entry, that would be another separate step to train the field on. The mobile app is just a better option for a one-stop, easy to learn software.
It would be great if you could improve app performance in the next release. We have been trying to transition from MFM (which handles our volume no problem) since August of last year. Your team has done a great job with the app thus far, and we feel we are so close to being ready to roll it out to our field.
That makes sense if you have an employee that is used for equipment entry.
The web portal grid timecard does support jobs/phases in a column if you would like to try out this configuration. Here's a KB that talks through it, but a consultant can help with this as well: https://www.keystyledata.com/kb/#KB/EmployeeSelfService/Timecards/Creating_a_Crew_Card_with_Job_and_Phase_as_a_Column.htm
If you want to try out this format, I'd recommend trying it in a test company. Please let me know if you have any questions!
We are currently working on increasing the app performance and hope to have this in a future release.
When I download those reports from the dashboard, all it shows is labor hours.
All of our equipment seems to come over under employee 9999, but those reports in the timecard dashboard are empty?
We tried using the portal grid timecard, and because the phases are not horizontally formatted, using it requires a couple hundred lines just to enter one day.
The horizontal format of the phases in the mobile app, allows us to enter more data, on less lines, and it will be the easiest to train the field to use (when/if we finally roll it out to everyone).
Hi Chon,
Even though that submitted timecard is in a closed pay period, you can still find it on the Timecard Dashboard, selecting that closed pay period, going to the history for the employee with the most equipment, and then downloading it.
Have you tried using the web portal's grid timecard for time entry?
Thanks!
Unfortunately, I do not have any submitted timecards to take a screenshot of. We had to stop using the app 2 weeks ago when the slowness became unbearable. The last timecard submitted is in a closed pay period.
We are using the tablet Grid view in the app, which I believe is the Allocation Grids setting under preferences.
Hi Chon,
Can you attached a screenshot of one of your submitted timecards on the portal's Grid Timecard page?
On the mobile app, are you mainly using the tablet Grid view or the mobile view for entering in time?
Thanks!
