Our employee base is transient, and may work on a jobsite for a number of days or weeks, and then be laid off. This doesn't always allow them to establish their employee number as a known value. So asking them to use it to reset their password with attempting to get a W-2 from the portal only adds work to HR who has to supply that number. If the user could perform a reset with an email address, or with a phone number and the last four of their SSN, the impact on HR would lessen because those data points are more likely known to the inactive employee looking for a stub or W-2.

I have worked with other companies who use Keystyle/Portal as well and it is very time consuming for admins resetting passwords.
