Field Ticket Time Approval Levels

Grid Time Entry to Jobs shows up for both the Job Approver, and the Manager for Timecard Approval.

However, time entered to Field Tickets only shows up for the Job Approver, it does not show up for the Manager to also approve. We need to add this functionality, or better approval routing for time entry overall. We need PM's to be able to approve Job Time, with a manager to be able to approve all time, to make sure that individuals aren't putting 40 hours on one PM's job, and 40 on another PM's job, and no check by a manager to make sure his overall time, OT, PT, is correct.

This would certainly be helpful. A lot of guys move between crews in a given week. We have situations where a foreman makes a mistake, and an individual (Lets call him John) ends up with time on two jobs on the same day, doubling up their hours, or through miscommunication, neither forman puts in time for John. If those jobs are by two different PM’s, they won’t see that John was put down for 16 hours in that day. We then have a resource manager who reviews the time by individual, and he sees those types of mistakes (the resource manager is also the one who is usually moving people between crews in a given week, so knows the situation best). We need this resource manager to be able to have Manager Review/Approval over all field staff.

That being said, being able to unsubmit the whole ticket or at least the time portion would probably fit our model best so the resource manager doesn’t need to go back to the foreman or PM to fix the field ticket.

    Hi Chris,

I think this is a great request, but I do have some questions about displaying Field Ticket hours on the Manager Approval page.

On this page, we normally add links to a specific standard, grid, or crew timecard that an employee's time was entered on. This allows a manager to view the exact timecard and hours for that employee. Since the Field Tickets are locked down to the Job Approver, we wouldn't be able to have a link to the Field Ticket on this page unless the manager was also the Job Approver. We also normally allow a manager to be able to unsubmit a timecard for their employees. Since an employees timecard is on a Field Ticket, they wouldn't be able to unsubmit the Field Ticket unless they were a Job Approver since this would unsubmit the whole ticket.

If we just showed the Field Ticket hours and allowed Managers to review/approve them, would this be helpful?

How are you currently using the Field Ticket?

    Thanks!
