Situations can vary. many times the time off (sick, jury, other) is requested and approved before the required company policy documentation is available. Mainly so we can reconcile hours per pay period and confirm we are not missing any time. Sometimes an employee will take off one day, find out they have complications, and depending on the final outcome they might submit time off day by day until they can return but told we need a doctors note. Or they submit jury duty time off for the period expected but get the verification of actual days on the last day versus the notice to appear. You can be told the first day you are required for the whole week and the employee submit the request that is approved. Proving you were their the whole week is a document given later.

What does your current process for handling these time off requests look like today? Are users required to have the attachment in order to have the request approved? Are they emailing these into HR after they get the note?

Sometimes a note, jury summons, excuse is finalized after the time off has been submitted. It would be useful if an employee could pull up a submitted/approved time off and add a an attachment after the fact.

Even though an employee can add a Doctor’s note many times the note itself may not be available until after the time off has been submitted. It would be great if an employee could add the note after submission.
