Submit your Suggestions for Vista Web

Don't allow people to submit time for people you don't have access to.

We have confirmed with Tech Support that, within a Shared Template when anyone submits time they are submitting time for everyone including people that cannot see, do not have access to and do not have permissions for.  No one should ever be allowed to submit timecards they cannot see or for individuals they do have even have access to.

Shared templates do not allow for approvals for employees you do not have access to approve for. When using shared templates, we also recommend using non-shared templates for any crew members that are more static since it will give more control over that crew leaders templates. If your users are unsure of the templates they are submitting, I would recommend adding a "(Shared)" label or something similar to your template descriptions to make it more clear to users.

    Thanks for you comments!

    Hi Mark,

Having employee signatures on the FM grid would be awesome on small jobs. But we've had jobs with 60+ people. Both Templates have issues for us. Non-shared means that two people entering time for the same person can't see what it entered. Shared means that you can submit (and approve I think) timecards for people you don't have access to.

In fact there is no way to know which timecards you are submitting and Viewpoint point has said this is the intended behavior.

    Hi Ken,

This is currently the nature of our shared templates in grid timecard since it is one template for all of the employees. I"ll bring this suggestion up in our next suggestion review meeting with the team.

One current work around that is common when using the shared template setup, is to require employee signatures on the grid timecard which allows the crew leader to submit one employee's timecard at a time.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

    Quote from Tech Support:

"I reviewed the submission item with our product team and have explicitly confirmed the submit all action is functioning as designed, and will submit for all employees on the template, including for shared template. I will ensure this is updated in our documentation appropriately."

Our question is: When is it ever a good to submit a timecards without review for individuals you cannot see and for which you don't have access?
