Multiple vendor instances for a company based across the country that utilizes a sort name to include the district the vendor is associated with. i.e T = Toronto then first 4 digits of the vendor's name.
This is for the purpose of creating PO's in Financial Controls. We are currently testing the product, going live in January 2020 and without this sort, it is nearly impossible to correctly identify a vendor. We have over 30,000 vendors in our company.

Hello, 2-3 years later and this is still a huge issue within the portal for us.
As previously described, we use the Sortname as a very unique identifier across similar vendors. Even with enabling the Show Address, City, and State it does not help our project teams with selecting the right vendor.
An option to include Vendor Sortname either In addition to or in lieu of Vendor Number would help us immensely.

We have an advanced portal setting that might help with this. Can you try enabling the "Show Address, City, and State in Vendor name lookups" portal setting and see if this option will work for you?

Having the Sort Name in the Vendor lookup (and making it a searchable field) is crucial for our business process in order to distinguish multiple instances of the same vendor name.
