When using a Mechanic Time Card and Clock IN/OUT with location a No job option is selected but it creates an entry that then has to be delete other wise the Punches do not match the time. This causes confusion and extra work for Mechanics.

Thanks for bringing this to attention Towner, I updated the status and now it's back on our radar
This suggestion has a status of "planning to implement" but is five years old. I'm guessing it fell off the roadmap a long time ago. Would y'all update the statuses on these?
Hey Mark,
We have a good mix of employees on the field, some are doing projects and some are doing service work, they could be switching weekly or daily depending on the workload. We required all employees to clock in/out with GPS location. Currently the auto generate timecard feature is great for project and office employees, but would like to see an optional feature to disallow the auto creation of the line on clock out for the service employee. A check box or toggle that would disable the action of the timecard line creation would be perfect. They could hit that, then clock out, or hit that before clock in and on clock out it would not generate.
Hi Brandon,
Do your service timecard employees need to actually clock in/clock out or do you just need them to write in and record those start and stop times? Have you seen our new Field Service offering?
Thanks!
We have a situation where our employees working on Service Work Orders have to punch in when they start their day, and punch out at the end of the day. It generates and office timecard line that they must delete after assigning time to work orders. Our office uses timecards and this works well for the office lines being generated. However it is causing issues for our field employees that work on service work order. Could there be something added to the clock in to disable auto generate the line for that day? This way they just have to allocate their time to various work orders or jobs. A lot forget to delete this office timecard line generated and causes issues with timecard submission as we use validation.
Is this suggestion along the lines of this?
It would be even better if the Work Orders that mechanics entered/updated could have time entries that feed over to their timecards. Right now they have to maintain their Work Orders and also maintain their timecards while referencing the Work Orders they spend time on.
Mark,
Timecard lines are generated by clock in/out , this is an important feature that they rely upon since they are all over the country and this takes care of GPS location as well as Jobs.

These settings are global so you would lose the benefit of your Job lines if you disabled them. Are you using the workflow where a Timecard Admin creates the lines at the end of the week unsubmitted/submitted? Or are the timecard lines generated on clock out?
Mark,
We have hundreds of employees some who work on jobs and some mechanics. If I disable the feature is it for all? If it is it would not be an option
for a large portion of the team.

Yes, it will :) I'll go ahead and rename this suggestion.
Since you are currently using the software for lines that are not Job line types, I would recommend disabling the auto-create lines functionality since this is causing you extra work to delete those lines. Have you considered having your employee create and code their own lines or having their foremen/supervisors create their lines for them?
Mark,
If rename will it keep the votes?
Add clock in/out feature to Mechanic's time card is exactly what we are asking for.
Anytime there are extra lines, even if it's easy to delete, takes extra key strokes which adds time and inefficiencies to a work load. And, I agree can cause confusion.
Hi Team,
Thanks for the suggestion! Based on the behavior described, it sounds like you might be using one of our features that creates timecard lines based on the clock in/outs. These features are limited to Job timecard lines right now. I can rename this suggestion to "Add Mechanic line types to Time Clock" if that makes sense. Please let me know if you'd like me to change it.
If this isn't the functionality you are using, please let me know more details about your setup and the behavior.
Thank you
This doesn't even feel like a vote for an enhancement. It feels like a vote to get it fixed.
Why do we have to vote on something that doesn't work correctly in the first place? just curious...
