Our payroll process requires for the Job Superintendent to review Job Time as well as the Project Manager to approve job time. It is not impossible for us to accommodate this now, but it is easy for things to go wrong this way and involves a lot of heartache to undo it.... Our process right now involves Superintendents to go into Job Time Approval and either selecting "Approve All" or checking all the green boxes on job lines to approve time... once done, they leave the "Finalize & Confirm" step for the Project Manager.
This leaves us with 2 issues though... (1) Superintendents will frequently forget to leave the "finalize & confirm" step for the Project Manager, and when doing so, the time disappears before the Project Manager sees it.... As the Payroll Admin, I have to go undo the timecard submission and then everyone who submitted time has to re-submit their timecards, and superintendent has to approve time again. (2) Even if done correctly, the system only logs the user who checked the "Approve All" (or checked the green boxes) as the sole approver of that time, so it essentially does not show an official stamp of approval from the project manager. Yes, I would know the PM likely approved it if in the timecard dashboard, the Job Approval column shows a green check mark, but that could also be the case if the Superintendent accidentally approved.
It is impractical for us to use Timecard Approval for our Project Managers as a secondary approval, for the same reason it would be impractical for us to use it for our Superintendents... we have guys constantly moving between jobs and we want both Superintendents and Project Managers to be assigned time to review based on the jobs they are managing. My ideal solution would be if there were a way for both the Superintendent and Project Manager to be able to do both "Approve All" and "Finalize & Confirm" functions, without that time going away once finalized & confirmed...and for the system to recognize digital sign offs from both Superintendent and PM in our audit trail

Checking again to see if there is any progress on this? It still a very much needed feature.
Is there a set date yet for implementing this suggestion? We would like 3 levels ideally but having the option of 2 would help sort out several internal issues we face.
Any update on this?
When can we expect this to be implemented?
This not only helps to approve the hours entered for our personnel in the field, but also helps verifying the production quantities. Furthermore, the first level of approval would be the superintendents followed by the second level being approval by the project manager. In the world of construction, this is a fundamental tool for production/time tracking and will help tremendously.
We have added this feature to our roadmap!
Why is there no solution for this yet? We manage about 10 companies and several are looking to other software solutions because of this limitation. Construction companies require two levels of approval on the job site.
Please update this for 2023!! requested and would benefit so many of us!
Is there an update on this? This is a highly requested function that has been asked for since 2018
Any update on this for 2023? We are implementing the timecard for another service line in the next two months and this was one of their "asks".
We have the same issue. We just implemented portal timecards and I was dumbfounded that tiered/sequential/hierarchal approvals was not possible. We can do it for invoice approvals, so I would think this would be an easy update.
Why on earth is this still an issue?
Is there a way to implement this by adding a user defined "supervisor" field or adding a third dropdown option in the reviewers tab? It seems like we have been using a work around on this forever....
Being able to have a secondary approver that is assigned when hours reach a certain threshold would be a huge improvement to the time & attendance system! I was told the secondary approver within the timesheet reviewer will work, but the threshold is not a contributing factor.
Thanks,
Billy
This would make our business process smoother and allow for other things to be done.
We have several other items that are a higher priority than this right now. Once we are finished with the current items, we will review this.
Thanks!
Is there any movement on this? I know that we use a work around of having the job supervisor approve and the pm finalizes-is there anyway to incorporate some notifications into that process? And stamp with both the supervisor's approval and the pm's?
This is exactly the situation we have. We need two levels of approval.
We have the exact same issue as Garrett. Adding that extra level of supervisor approval gives the pm's more confidence that the entries were entered correctly.
