We accrue PTO time based on hours worked, up to an annual limit. The Leave Code is set up to use this limit, and the auto accruals are working properly. HOWEVER, the amount of leave that is displaying in the portal is not taking this limit into account. This is causing confusion for our employees who think they have a much higher amount of leave.
Please display the limit if there is one in the Annual Allotment field on the portal.

The state of Alaska now has mandatory Sick Leave based on hours worked and the Annual Allotment not taking into account the Accrual Limit is presenting incorrect information to the employees. I do not see any way to turn off the display of the Annual Allotment or adjust how it is calculating. Based on other companies I have spoken with, it is common to have leave balances capped by an accrual limit to allow for front loading leave for employees, particularly in the case of hourly rate accruals to ensure we meet legal requirements. This is creating potential State DOL legal liabilities for our companies.
This needs to be fixed or at least allow for disabling the display of the inaccurate calculation, perhaps in the Extended Leave Code setup.
We also have the same problem. The State of Illinois now dictates that employees accrue PTO at a rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked. For salaried employees, we're using a fixed accrual rate of 1 hour per week with an accrual limit of 40 hours. This works fine on the back end, but Time Off shows an allotment of 52 hours for the fixed accruals. By law, if we show a value to the employees electronically, we have to honor it. Previously we used an accrual rate of .77 hours per week, which worked perfectly over 52 weeks, but the weekly accrual amount is not equal to the value dictated by the State and so the balance at any given time does not meet state guidelines.
We have the same issue. Are employees accrue all of their PTO in the first 3 months of the year (Basically 40 hours a month) until the end of March for a cap of 120 hours. We have overrides for employees that get more based on years of service. The portal is taking the amount they accrue for the first 3 months and multiplying it by 12, so employees think they have 480 or more hours of PTO.
Mark,
We have the same problem, and I just submitted a suggestion for it - they could be combined.
Our employees get to the accrual limit faster, when they work OT during the year. This is currently affecting more that 10% of our employees.
Hi Christine,
It's unusual for us to see an accrual rate for the year that's higher than the annual accrual rate for an employee. Why is your cap lower than your annual accrual?
Thanks!
