Currently the only way to approve pending PO's is by line item. This is poor design since the built in email notification in Viewpoint goes out for every line item that has been approved. The Pending PO notification is also not in WF Notifier so it is not easily editable. Imagine if there are two levels of approval, and you submit a pending PO with 10 items on it. You will get 20 emails. One for every line item that moves to the next step.

More than one year later, the only "solution" I received is to Vote on this feature...I cannot understand how this is not an issue. We have 2 approvers received 50+ emails each in a span of minutes. This is not a viable solution.
We are currently experiencing the pains of this right now as we are implementing Pending PO creation in the portal for two of our services lines. It is not uncommon for the POs to have 20+ line items, which creates 20+ email notifications per workflow step. Creating POs in the portal is much easier and faster than in Vista but we cannot send this many emails to our approvers.
This Suggestion should be linked with 487 and 992. Since this seems to be important to a lot of users maybe Viewpoint could move the 'future consideration' assigned in 2019 up to ASAP. Please and thank you.
Having a portal option to have the PO's at the PO level, rather than that line item level would really simplify the approval process for our team. We would receive less emails and the documentation of the approval in the Workflow History would be cleaner to provide to the auditors. Please see attached documentation.
Having a header with totals, then a drilldown, like when approving Pending Invoices, would be nice.
